New Mexico Software Upgrades Digital Filing Cabinet
Posted on: Monday, 22 August 2005, 09:00 CDT
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Aug. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- New Mexico Software, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: NMXS) , a leading provider of next-generation digital lifecycle management solutions, announced today a major upgrade of its Digital Filing Cabinet (DFC). The new version is called DFC3.
DFC3 features equipment designed for the recently released dual core AMD processors, which are built for handling multiple tasks simultaneously. The dual core processors accelerate the optical character reader (OCR) and search engine functions.
Dick Govatski, CEO of New Mexico Software, said, "The OCR aspect of the DFC is the most time-consuming process for our application, especially while putting a lot of paper through the system. DFC3 is significantly faster because it can use up to 32 processors at the same time.
"DFC3 can have up to 7.5 terabytes of archival space. We're using larger hard drives along with cutting-edge technology to add storage for our customers."
In addition to state-of-the-art hardware, DFC3 integrates with QuickBooks, the popular accounting software. Included in the system is New Mexico Software's new scanner that's designed to scan invoices and other business documents into DFC3, which then automatically exports the data into QuickBooks. The original document can be retrieved from QuickBooks or DFC3.
Govatski said, "DFC3 has been upgraded with New Mexico Software's Roswell core technology. We developed DFC3 so that it can be installed in a company's data center, or it can run from a web connection and Internet browser on our lower-cost, hosted ASP model. The hosted version provides the same functionality as a non-hosted system, but customers don't have to invest in the hardware and the complex infrastructure. We'll do the rest, including maintaining the hardware and software."
