Encentuate Partners With Initiative for Open AuTHentication (OATH) to Deliver OATH-Compliant Enterprise Access Security Products; Company Places Support Behind Open Authentication Standards
Posted on: Monday, 22 August 2005, 12:00 CDT
Encentuate Inc., the leading provider of enterprise access security solutions, today announced that it has joined the Initiative for Open AuTHentication (OATH) and given its commitment to deliver OATH-compliant enterprise access security products. OATH is a collaborative effort of IT industry leaders aimed at providing a reference architecture for universal strong authentication across all users and all devices over all networks.
Encentuate will use OATH's recently released Reference Architecture v1.0 as a roadmap for making Encentuate TCI OATH compliant. Once compliant, Encentuate TCI will be able to work with other open-standard technologies to quickly and seamlessly integrate Encentuate TCI's sign-on and sign-off automation, authentication management, and auditing and reporting functionality.
"By using open standards, we will be able to more easily integrate with other open-standard technologies and provide organizations with the power of choice," said Peng T. Ong, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Encentuate. "OATH's reference architecture and open standards will create more opportunities for security hardware manufacturers and software developers to develop interoperable technologies that deliver open strong authentication across the enterprise. Our technologies are already built on standards like SOAP/HTTPS and XML, and this agreement with OATH builds on that continued commitment. We look forward to working with OATH and its partners to help drive industry authentication standards and create more secure technologies."
With strong support from companies such as Encentuate, OATH will continue to be successful at promoting open strong authentication standards," said Colleen Kulhanek, director of business development, SafeNet Inc. and OATH marketing chair. "Customers want better interoperability among their security products, and by integrating open standards, organizations will be helping to make strong authentication the universal solution to today's security challenges. We eagerly anticipate the release of Encentuate's OATH-compliant solution in the near future."
Encentuate's enterprise access security solution, Encentuate TCI, combines sign-on/sign-off automation, authentication management, and user-centric auditing and reporting to help organizations increase their digital security immediately and incrementally without the need for large investments in IT infrastructure. Encentuate TCI has proven that it can also help to increase productivity, strengthen regulatory compliance, reduce costs and manage risks.
About the Initiative for Open AuTHentication
The Initiative for Open AuTHentication (OATH) is a collaboration of leading device, platform and application companies. OATH participants hope to foster use of strong authentication across networks, devices and applications. OATH participants work collectively to facilitate standards work and build reference architecture for open authentication while evangelizing the benefits of strong interoperable authentication in a networked world.
OATH members are united in three key goals: promote secure and safe online transactions for users; leverage existing standards to create an open reference architecture for strong authentication; and reduce the cost and complexity of strong authentication to drive broad enterprise and consumer adoption.
