Tokyo, Aug. 23 (Jiji Press)--Japan's NTT Communications Corp., a member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance, said Tuesday the company has expanded its Hotspot public wireless local area network connection service to the Philippines.
NTT Communications struck a roaming deal with local WBA member ePLDT Inc., allowing Hotspot customers to connect to the Internet via some 180 WLAN access points in the Philippines, the company said.
On top of the Hotspot fees, customers have to pay 25 yen per minute for the roaming service. Beforehand, they must apply for NTT Communications' Global Broadband Roaming Service.
The company's Hotspot wireless broadband service is now available in more than 60 countries.
NTT Communications, the international service arm of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. , also has roaming arrangements with other WBA members, such as KT Corp. of South Korea, T-Mobile USA Inc. and BT Group PLC of Britain.
The WBA is a telecommunications operator-led industry alliance formed by pioneers in the wireless broadband field.END
