Consumer Experts Give Thumbs-Up to Internet Shopping

Security worries, fear of fraud and confusion about consumer rights are putting many of us off internet shopping, new research has revealed.
Even though more people in Wales than ever are buying online, many of us are still refusing to take the plunge, according to the Welsh Consumer Council (WCC).
And of those who do buy on the web, 66% are unsure about their consumer rights.
But the WCC's Sarah Richards said much of people's fear was unfounded.
She said, 'Despite people's fears over the authenticity of shopping websites, online shoppers are covered by more consumer regulations than are people who shop on the high street.
'Online purchases are also covered by a seven-day 'cooling off' period which is set out under distance selling regulations.
'An important point to remember while carrying out an online transaction is to use a secure browser.'
Ms Richards said as long as a secure server was used, all credit card transactions would be protected by the Consumer Credit Act.
