City of Billings Metropolitan Transit Turns to RouteMatch Software to Provide an Accessible and Dynamic Public Transit System
RouteMatch Software, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide its flagship transit software application, RouteMatch TS,(TM) to the City of Billings Metropolitan Transit (MET), a public provider of demand-response people transportation in Billings, Montana.
RouteMatch TS(TM) will handle the City of Billings' computer-aided registration, scheduling, and dispatching needs. RouteMatch has also proposed its Automated Vehicle Location (AVL)/Mobile Data Computers (MDCs) module for integration with Mentor Engineering, a leading provider of wireless technology systems.
The City of Billings chose RouteMatch's state-of-the-art transit technologies to improve its daily schedules and routes with integrated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping capabilities. In addition, the City of Billings was looking for a powerful data management tool that could provide easy and accurate reporting capabilities.
In a matter of seconds, the City of Billings will now be able to review operating statistics and compare them to last quarter or last year's, track trips by funding source, see where money is being spent, and determine if the number of trips and mileage are increasing or decreasing at any given moment. The AVL/MDC module will provide the ability to locate and track vehicles, perform optimal vehicle dispatching, and maximize routing and scheduling efficiency.
"RouteMatch will offer a solution that will reduce the City of Billings' total cost of ownership for its ITS technologies," said Brent Conley, Western regional sales director. "RouteMatch will also provide a level of wireless integration services that will exceed expectations and be able handle all future growth."
