Aug. 23--TOKYO -- Software developer OSK Co. said Tuesday it will begin shipments Wednesday of a geographic information system that enables business users to combine their existing customer and other database with a map displayed via the Internet.
The GISpool system will help business users instantaneously pinpoint locations on the map which they plan to visit, or help understand the distribution of customers and business partners, to visually grasp business situations, it said.
It comes in the form of a CD-ROM and will be available at system integration service provider Otsuka Corp. and other sales agents.
Maps for the system will be provided by Zenrin DataCom Co., an application service provider. The maps will be constantly updated.
Among other applications, the system also enables maintenance service companies to map out efficient routes for regular checkups and salespeople to work out effective schedules to visit prospective customers, OSK said.
A basic package of the GISpool system costs 350,000 yen.
