‘Battle of Network Stars’ Becomes Movie
August 25, 2005
Paramount Pictures is reportedly making a star-studded comedy based on the TV series Battle of the Network Stars.
The creator of the 1978 series, Barry Frank, will executive produce the film being written by Etan Cohen, Daily Variety reported Thursday.
The film will tell the story of a disgraced network executive who has to regain his reputation by winning the Battle, Variety said.
The popular 1970s TV show pitted stars from ABC, CBS and NBC against each other in a number athletic events. Howard Cosell provided the deadpan play-by-play.
Frank predicted the filming will be great fun and said his only regret is that the late Cosell won’t be around to participate.
