Etnus TotalView Now Supports AMD Opteron Processors

Posted on: Monday, 17 November 2003, 06:00 CST

NATICK, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 2003--Etnus, provider of the most advanced debugger on Linux and UNIX, today announced that Etnus TotalView(R) is available on AMD Opteron(TM) processor-based computing systems running the SuSE Enterprise Server 8 Linux distribution.

TotalView is an advanced 32- and 64-bit graphical debugger giving software engineers complete control over threaded and parallel applications written in C, C++ or Fortran. It simplifies debugging and analysis of applications, and features unrivaled support for code that uses multithreading, MPI and OpenMP. Advanced features, such as heap allocation debugging, data analysis, and STLView for simplified viewing of standard template library code, provide welcome insights into complex code and dense data. With advanced features absent in other debuggers, TotalView is unrivaled in its ability to help find bugs fast.

"The AMD Opteron processor provides a seamless path for developers to use their 32-bit environment and to transition easily to 64-bit operations as that software environment matures," remarks Mary Kay Bunde, Director of Market Development at Etnus. "TotalView supports both 32-bit and 64-bit debugging on the AMD64 family of platforms, so our customers will have a smooth migration."

"Customers developing code for large cluster servers based on AMD Opteron processors now have a premium test and debugging tool for 32- and 64-bit applications with Etnus TotalView," said Marty Seyer, vice president and general manager of AMD's Microprocessor Business Unit. "Even for compute intensive, parallel code, AMD Opteron processor-based servers offer the power, performance and ultimate value our customers demand."
