Everbee Networks to Support Motorola PowerQUICC Communications Processor Architecture
PARIS, Oct. 9, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Everbee Networks (www.everbee.com), a trend setting provider of integrated all-in-one network security software delivered on a versatile, plug-and-play silicon platform, today announced xNSP(TM)software support for security solutions based on Motorola PowerQUICC(TM) processors and Motorola's MPC184 security co-processor. xNSP software provides a high-speed OS-independent security platform and includes support for firewall (stateful and application level), real-time encryption, VPN / IPSec, access control, intrusion detection and prevention, email virus bouncer, email ciphering, and content filtering. Everbee Networks has also committed support for current and future PowerQUICC products that include integrated security cores.
xNSP software is optimized to support the PowerQUICC and MPC184 encryption acceleration capabilities further enhancing a personal solution for network security and protection services with increased throughput and a reduced CPU load freeing cycles for other high-value tasks.
Manufacturers can take advantage of xNSP software and Motorola PowerQUICC processors to build a wide range of secure, high-performance personal network security appliances, as well as VPN routers, Wireless Access Points, DSL gateways, and other network peripherals.
"We are committed to providing our PowerQUICC customers with the means to build advanced, market-ready network security equipment," said Mike Shoemake, PowerQUICC marketing manager for Motorola. "Everbee Networks' all-in-one approach to personal network security complements our plans to serve the market with secure communications processor solutions."
"Everbee Networks' embedded security software was designed for wire speed performance," said Pierre Garnier, chairman and chief executive officer, Everbee Networks. "Taking advantage of the robust PowerQUICC security engines enables manufacturers to build personal network security solutions, which provide our mutual customers the highest level of performance available on the market today."
About Motorola's PowerQUICC and Security Processors
The PowerQUICC processor family is the industry's most widely used communications processor architecture, with nearly 83 percent market share, according to a May 2003 Gartner Dataquest report. PowerQUICC processors deliver integrated control and forwarding plane functionality for a wide range of customer premises equipment (CPE), access and edge applications, such as digital subscriber line (xDSL) gateways, SOHO and enterprise routers, home networking equipment, wireless access points, wireless base stations, DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs), telecom switching, and T1/E1 termination equipment. Complementing its PowerQUICC family, Motorola offers the popular S1 family of security co-processors, which work in concert with PowerQUICC processors. S1 security products, including the MPC184 processor, are derived from security technologies that Motorola has developed over the last 30 years. Motorola has also introduced new PowerQUICC processor families that feature integrated security engines, providing a higher level of integration and encryption acceleration.
