Japan Telecom, Softbank BB to Combine Public Wireless LANs

Aug. 29--TOKYO -- Japan Telecom Co. and Softbank BB Corp. said Monday they have agreed to integrate their public wireless local area network, or LAN, systems.
The accord will combine Softbank BB's Yahoo! BB Mobile Zone service in cities and Japan Telecom's Mobile Point service in train stations of the Japan Railway group, said the group companies of Internet investor Softbank Corp.
The combined roaming service, to be called BB Mobile Point, will begin on Oct. 3 following trial services.
