United Airlines Flight Diverted to Detroit Airport
August 30, 2005
ROMULUS, Mich. – A United Airlines flight from Boston to Chicago was diverted to Detroit Metropolitan Airport after smoke was reported in the cabin, the airline said.
The Boeing 757, which was carrying 162 passengers and seven crew members, landed safely about 11 a.m., said United spokesman Jeff Green on Thursday.
No injuries were reported.
The airline was investigating the possible source of the smoke, Green said.
The airline sent a replacement plane, which delivered the passengers aboard Flight 881 to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, Green said.
