Reallusion Annouces Certified Content Developer Program for Mobile Phones

Posted on: Tuesday, 30 August 2005, 09:00 CDT

Following Reallusion's successful release of their new Certified Content Developer (CCD) program at the annual SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles, the company has announced their first release of a major licensed character. The interactive avatar for mobile phones is based on basketball legend Tracy McGrady and was designed by GenPlay Games of Milpitas, CA in just 3 days by a single developer, demonstrating the ease of the new mobile 3D development tools released by Reallusion.

Designed to be used by graphics professionals, independent artists and developer groups, Reallusion's CCD program provides developers with Reallusion's proprietary development tools and 3D Studio Max(TM) plug-ins. Once created, certified content for mobile phones and PCs is marketed to end users and OEMs through Reallusion and their partners, with the artists collecting up to a 50% commission on the sale of their content.

Reallusion has three main products for the CCD program. First, developers can create "Character Packs" for CyClone(TM), a new software program used to create personalized 3D avatars and character animation. Developers can also create "Image Packs" for Reallusion's award winning CrazyTalk(TM) facial animation software. Finally, Reallusion's WOW Machine(TM) gives developers access to Reallusion's "WOWScreens(TM)" 3D Studio Max(TM) plug-ins, allowing developers to export personalized 3D characters and objects to mobile phones. Once certified, all content created for any of Reallusion's products can be sold on Reallusion's online store.

With Reallusion's software currently installed in over 26 million handsets and PCs worldwide, and a projected year-end penetration of over 32 million, the value of the CCD program to independent and corporate artists is obvious to even leading game developers such as GenPlay. "Reallusion's CCD program leverages their relationship with customers and industry leaders like Nokia, Panasonic, Bird and BenQ-Siemens to provide GenPlay with the tools and exposure necessary to build and globally market great mobile content. We're very excited to be working with Reallusion to create a new entertainment application for mobile phones featuring Tracey McGrady. We believe the T-Mac pack for WOWScreens(TM) will resonate with basketball fans around the world who are interested in individualizing their phone's notifications, incoming calls, text messages and alarms," stated Kevon Saber vice president of GenPlay.

For a limited time, developers can visit http://www.reallusion.com/developer to fill out an application and download a free 45-day developer license of the Reallusion 3D Studio Max plug-in suite (a $1,495.00 value). The plug-ins directly export artist creations into files ready to load into Reallusion's popular animation software and mobile phones.

More information about Reallusion's CCD Program and WOWScreens(TM) can be found at http://www.reallusion.com/developer/default.html. WOWScreens(TM) can be purchased directly from Reallusion or selected carriers.
