TV stations WBRZ and WAFB are maintaining their continuous coverage of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and have switched their regular programming to their affiliated stations.
WBRZ's regular programming is now airing on Cox cable Channel 18. WAFB's primetime programs are airing on Cox cable Channel 9, and daytime programming is on sister station WBXH, Cox cable Channel 16).
WBRZ, which has teamed up with WGNO in New Orleans, will continue its simulcast on the cable outlets normally occupied by WGNO at least until Sunday night, a station spokesman said.
A WAFB spokesman said Wednesday that there will be no "Sportsline Friday Night" on Friday, and "Battle on the Block" will not air on WBXH that night.
The SEC football game between the University of Alabama- Birmingham and Tennessee will air at 11:30 a.m. Saturday on WBXH.
WAFB's coverage of U.S. Open Tennis on Saturday may be preempted for hurricane coverage.
Meanwhile, WVLA, Cox cable Channel 3, has postponed local airing of the 33rd Annual MDA Telethon this weekend due to the hurricane.
