Benefit TV Concert in the Works

The six broadcast networks are working together to present a one-hour concert special to collect donations for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Executives from CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, WB and UPN held a conference call late Thursday to plan the event. The concert is to air next week, but no date was announced. During the broadcast, viewers will be asked to donate to Katrina relief efforts.
Joel Gallen, who produced the telethon America: A Tribute to Heroes in response to 9/11, will serve as executive producer.
Also, Jerry Lewis' annual Labor Day telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association will include appeals for hurricane relief. MDA will donate $1 million to help victims in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The telethon begins Sunday at 9 p.m. ET and runs until 5:30 p.m. ET Monday (check local listings).
Meanwhile, the roster is filling up for NBC's A Concert for Hurricane Relief (tonight, 8 ET/tape PT). Faith Hill and New Orleans native Aaron Neville will perform. Others who will appear include Mike Myers, Hillary Swank, John Goodman, Claire Danes and Eriq LaSalle.
Also tonight, a fundraising special United for the Victims of Katrina will air on Telemundo (9 ET/PT).
In other developments:
*Ellen DeGeneres, a native of New Orleans, will launch a fundraising effort on her syndicated talk show beginning Monday. Warner Bros. Entertainment will contribute $500,000 and match viewer contributions up to another $500,000.
*Beginning Tuesday, Jay Leno will ask guests of The Tonight Show to sign a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that will be up for bid on eBay.
*BET and the National Urban League are sponsoring a telethon Sept. 9, 6-10 p.m. ET. Russell Simmons, Chris Rock, Wynton Marsalis and rappers Master P, Juvenile and David Banner are scheduled to appear.
*Celine Dion has pledged $1 million in proceeds from her Las Vegas show to the American Red Cross.
*Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs are teaming to donate $1 million to the relief effort. In addition, both stars have pledged donations of clothing from the Rocawear and Sean John clothing collections to those in need.
