TODD YOHN ; 'BOB &Amp; TOM SHOW' REGULAR KEEPS EYE ON BIG PICTURE

Plenty of comedians wait their entire career for the chance to work in network television, but not Todd Yohn. The North Carolina transplant turned down an offer to move to Los Angeles early in his career because he didn't want to raise his daughters (now ages 14, 12 and 11) in California.
"I think things happen for a reason, and I chose not to go," Yohn said. "It's everything to me to see my daughters growing up with a great sense of right and wrong. That's actually to my wife's credit; she's done most of the work. When you look at the big picture, my legacy is not what I leave behind on celluloid or a tape of a TV show -- it's those three girls. They're going to carry on after I'm long gone, and that's more important than any sitcom I can get."
Yohn, who is performing at Wiley's Comedy Niteclub through Sunday, is a regular on The Bob & Tom Show. Most fans of the morning radio program know Yohn from his humorous songs, but he is equally funny doing his manic stand-up act.
"Before I even pick up the guitar I'm doing 45 minutes of stand- up," Yohn said. "It's a bunch of physical humor and facial expressions. I just do wacky stuff, and that's what my comedy is. I don't do political humor, because I'm not interested in politics and I don't write it very well. I leave that to guys that know what that's all about, like Bill Maher and Dennis Miller.
"What I try to do is make you forget about the B.S. in the world for about an hour," he continued. "But if you leave there not laughing, I'll give you your money back." Contact free-lance arts and music writer Don Thrasher at
