Junction Solutions Announces Support for Microsoft Smarter Retailing Initiative

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 September 2005, 09:00 CDT

Junction Solutions, a leading provider of vertical industry focused enterprise software and services based on Microsoft Business Solutions-Axapta, today announced its support for the Microsoft Smarter Retailing Initiative (SRI), created to help retailers improve how they sell and operate, and provide a technology and solutions framework for enabling the next generation of retail innovation. The initiative focuses on three critical areas: Smarter Shopping, Smarter Selling and Smarter Operations.

Based on extensive research, feedback from Microsoft's customer advisory board, and industry-specific development investments by Microsoft's retail-focused industry solutions team, the Microsoft Smarter Retailing Initiative provides an innovative approach, based on open standards, to allow retailers to take full advantage of their legacy investments by connecting the retail enterprise to the store and to the consumer. SRI fundamentally changes the retailer's rules of engagement with customers and the customer's in-store experience.

Junction Solutions worked with Microsoft Business Solutions to deliver industry specific functionality within the Microsoft Axapta product, including a software solution for multi-channel retailers, wholesale distributors, and direct marketers as well as a customized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution designed meet the unique requirements of Food, Beverage, Food Processing, Food Service, Food Ingredients, Food Distribution and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies.

"Junction Solutions is a valued Microsoft industry partner and has built industry-specific solutions to help retailers get the most out of their retail environment," said Brian Scott, vice president of the retail and hospitality industry solutions group at Microsoft Corp. "By making optimal use of the Microsoft .NET Framework and Web Services, Junction Solutions is enabling retailers to take full advantage of their existing infrastructure and build out solutions that align with our vision for Smarter Retailing."

"It is clear that the rules for engagement with customers are changing and new retail technologies are playing a critical role," said Brian Carpizo, President and CEO at Junction Solutions. "Smarter Retailing helps retailers win today by helping them make the most of current investments and win tomorrow by easing delivery of new retail experiences."
