OnDemand Software Selects Mirage Networks to Defend Its Network Interior; Network Access Control Appliance Finds and Stops Threats Originating From Uncontrolled Endpoints

Mirage Networks, developers of award-winning technology uniquely designed to protect the network interior, today announced that OnDemand Software, a Division of Global Knowledge, has chosen CounterPoint(TM) appliances to secure its network interior.
The company selected the award-winning CounterPoint based on the product's key benefits:
-- Network-based appliance that requires neither agents nor signatures
-- Surgical cloaking that removes only the offending endpoints from the network
-- Behavioral, threshold-based rules stop day-zero threats without false positives
"OnDemand Software faces the security issues impacting nearly every institution whose networks are defined by ease of access to information," said Scott Olson, vice president of marketing, Mirage Networks. "Users are not spreading malware maliciously. Most often, mobile PCs bring infections into the interior of the network that were picked up outside the corporate perimeter. That is the primary hole in traditional security solutions -- and CounterPoint was developed to solve exactly this problem."
CounterPoint is a unique network access control solution that provides day-zero protection against rapidly propagating threats (RPTs) at the access/distribution layer -- where staff and student computers attach to a school's network. If an infected device is plugged into the network and attempts to propagate an infection, or violate security policies, CounterPoint immediately identifies the traffic as malicious and revokes the network access of that device. The device remains fully functional on its own, but can no longer connect to the network. This is accomplished without client-based software, without network redesign, and without the need to continually update signatures.
