Mi8 Corporation Offers Free Email Service to Companies Affected By Hurricane Katrina

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 September 2005, 12:00 CDT

Mi8 Corporation today announced that it will provide assistance to businesses and organizations whose email systems were affected by Hurricane Katrina.

"As a New York City-based company, we remember well the outpouring of support from Americans following the days of 9/11, and this is our small way of paying some of that back," said Patrick Fetterman, president of Mi8 Corp. "While the Red Cross and FEMA and other organizations are focusing on saving lives and restoring some semblance of order to the hurricane-stricken areas, we hope that businesses will come together to offer support to the companies and not-for-profits that have lost their infrastructure in this devastating storm, bringing the economy of this area back online as quickly as possible."

Mi8 is offering free services to companies in the affected coastal areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, and to nonprofit and government organizations involved in the relief efforts. The services consist of an advanced messaging system based on Microsoft Exchange server. This system offers email, contact management, a storage system for documents and other electronic materials, and much more. Mi8 will help companies set up these free accounts with Internet access and will support the users as they learn to use the system. The offer is 180 days of free service with no upfront costs and no commitments, and is designed to help both organizations that have lost infrastructure and are struggling to continue business operations, and the relief organizations working in these areas. Some restrictions apply; please contact the company for details at relief@mi8.com, or at 1-800-965-4648, option 3.

Microsoft Exchange Server is the world's most popular messaging and collaboration system for businesses, providing advanced email, shared calendars, project management tools, and document sharing features. Mi8 operates one of the largest deployments of hosted Microsoft Exchange in the world, enhancing this service with wireless access via Pocket PC, Palm OS, and Blackberry devices, compliance-driven archiving services, and much more. Mi8 backs its services with a Service Level Agreement that guarantees 99.9% reliability.
