GERMANTOWN, Md., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Optelecom-NKF, Inc. , a leading global manufacturer of video transmission systems for IP/Ethernet and fiber optic networks, today announced the launch of a complete line of IP networked video products and solutions to the North America market.
The technology suite includes MPEG-2 video encoders, Ethernet switches, control and viewing software, and video recording all designed to build integrated surveillance and control networks for use in Security and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications. The Company is also offering a Software Developers Kit (SDK) based on a modular ActiveX platform, for use by third-party software developers and systems integrators.
Developed by the Company's NKF team in the Netherlands, the initial products and solutions have been enthusiastically embraced by customers, resulting in design wins for key projects across Europe, Asia, and now, North America.
The product line is designed to integrate with hardware and software offered by a wide range of third-party vendors. The product platform conforms to most industry standards for Ethernet networking and video encoding. This enables an integrator or end user to deliver high quality CCTV video, control, and telemetry data with unparalleled flexibility while minimizing the use of installed fiber optic cable.
IP/Ethernet technology dramatically speeds and simplifies the installation process and allows for sharing of video across multiple agencies improving emergency response times and enhancing public safety.
"Our new IP-based product line makes it possible for our customers to quickly build robust, fully integrated Ethernet networks that carry high quality CCTV video, control signals, audio, and Ethernet to any point on the network," said Edmund Ludwig, Optelecom-NKF's President and CEO. "Our solutions are designed for the harsh real world environmental conditions that our customers typically face. The release of these products comes at a time when the industry is transitioning from proprietary closed network systems to new technology built on standards-based IP/Ethernet. This launch strengthens our position as a global leader with the most complete line of networked video transmission products. We plan to maintain our leadership with future product releases including multichannel encoders, NVR, and MPEG-4 technologies."
