Logic Product Development (Logic) today announced the release of a low-cost development kit based on the Intel PXA270 Processor and System on Module (SOM), called Card Engine. The development kit has a recommended resale of $499 and comes with a complete set of design documentation for quickly evaluating the Intel PXA270 Processor and Card Engine.
The Card Engine is a compact (60 mm long x 68 mm wide x 4 mm high), product-ready hardware and software solution for rapidly developing embedded products. Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE 5.0 Board Support Packages are available for the Development Kit and Card Engine. Linux will be available in the future.
The Card Engine is a complete system on module offering the essential features for handheld and embedded networking applications in the industrial, medical, and consumer markets. The use of custom baseboards makes the Card Engine the ideal foundation for OEMs developing handheld and compact products. By utilizing the Card Engine's scalability, a customer can easily migrate to next generation Card Engines based on Intel PXA2XX Processors when new functionality or higher performance is required.
