500 American Airlines Employee Volunteers at Reservation Center to Support National Hurricane Katrina Relief Telethon on Friday

American Airlines Executives and Employees Raise Funds for Katrina Evacuees
WHAT American Airlines employee volunteers will be answering calls from donors responding to Friday evening's national telethon, "Shelter from the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast." The one-hour commercial-free telethon will be simulcast live from 7:00-8:00 p.m. CDT by ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, the WB and UPN networks in addition to more than 30 cable affiliate channels. Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. Media will have an opportunity to interview, photograph, and film American Airlines employee volunteers as well as Bella Goren, Vice President, Interactive Marketing and Reservations. In addition, other executives will be on-hand to lend their support during the telethon. WHEN Friday, September 9, 2005 5:30 p.m. American Airlines volunteers will begin arriving 5:45 p.m. Training begins at the Reservations center 6:00-11 p.m. American Airlines volunteers will answer pledge calls from across the nation WHERE American Airlines Southern Reservations Office 4700 American Boulevard, Fort Worth, Texas 76155 (Located near the CR Smith Museum at Highways 183 and 360) EVENT DETAILS/ACCOMMODATIONS FOR MEDIA Media are asked to arrive at 5:45 p.m. and may park in the employee parking lot and use the building's north entrance. BACKGROUND INFORMATION The telethon will feature leading entertainers from the film, television and music industry to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims. To date, American Airlines employee response to this tragedy has been overwhelming. Beyond providing volunteer flight crews to staff relief flights into and out of hurricane-stricken areas, American Airlines, its employees and the American Airlines Credit Union have contributed almost $300,000 to relief funds benefiting the victims of Hurricane Katrina and have contributed clothing and other essential items to those affected by the storm and its aftermath.
