Carrius Incorporates Performance Technologies' Communications Products into High-End VoIP Solutions

Posted on: Monday, 12 September 2005, 09:00 CDT

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Performance Technologies , a leading developer of integrated systems, platforms, components and software, today announced Carrius Technologies is using the company's IPnexus(R) Media Blade products in its Compleat-200 Service Delivery Gateway (SDG).

The Compleat-200 Service Delivery Gateway combines application and softswitch call control with signaling, protocol and media interworking functions, in a single scalable platform. This combination makes it economically feasible for service providers and solution developers who previously could not justify the expense of multiple, stand-alone, next- generation network elements to offer more services across multiple network types.

Carrius, an early adopter of open-system hardware platforms, creates telecom systems by integrating its own advanced software with standard, carrier-grade CompactPCI(R) PICMG(R) 2.16 hardware. This approach allows Carrius to adopt the best available hardware on the market to quickly meet changing market needs. Carrius is using Performance Technologies' IPnexus MG6000 Media Blade and complementary NexusWare(TM) MG software in the Compleat-200 system.

"As one of the early adopters of off-the-shelf hardware, we strive to broaden our portfolio of hardware sub-systems and share the inherent economies of this business model with our customers," stated John Stephenson, director of product management at Carrius. "We recognize Performance Technologies as an innovative technology partner who is capable of complementing our already diverse hardware solutions, allowing us to better address changing market needs."

Performance Technologies' MG6000 is the industry's highest density T1/E1 media blade. It combines the company's world-class media and voice processing and network access functionality to facilitate the development of media gateway elements. The MG6000 can be used in a variety of other carrier-grade applications including IMS media gateways, access gateways, Class 5 replacement switches, media servers and wireless interworking functions.

The associated NexusWare MG software adds media gateway and media server development capabilities to the MG6000 hardware platform. NexusWare MG builds upon the capacity provided by the company's Linux-based NexusWare Core development environment by integrating media processing functionality with multiple signaling stacks.

"Carrius has a strong reputation for delivering highly reliable and innovative IP-based service platforms for telecom operators," said Ali Bigdeliazari, vice president and general manager of the voice technology group for Performance Technologies. "We're pleased to be a key supplier to Carrius, and we are confident our relationship will advance well into the future."
