Signs New Strategic Sales Partnerships in Both North America and Asia/Pacific
Ardence, Inc., the embedded software pioneer that developed the prototype of the Microsoft Windows embedded operating system more than a decade ago, today outlined a series of strategic initiatives to significantly increase both the product development and the global sales and marketing efforts for its leading embedded software - RTX, ReadyOn and ETS.
RTX enhances the control and performance of Windows XP, XPe, 2000, NT and Nte by providing a development and execution environment with traditional real-time operating system features, including high performance, reliability and determinism.
ReadyOn provides the instant-on - and instant-off - capability for Windows-based devices, eliminating long start-up and power-down times for XP Embedded and XP Professional operating systems.
Ardence's Phar Lap ETS is the company's own embedded operating system, well known for its tiny footprint and performance.
-- Ardence said recent staff additions have doubled the number of embedded engineers dedicated to the development of RTX, ReadyOn and ETS, and the company will add more embedded engineers in 2006. Ardence said it will release new versions of all three products over the next 45 days.
-- Ardence said it is finalizing a long-term, strategic sales partnership with a Global 2000 company to lead all Ardence embedded sales initiatives, a move that will significantly increase the global market reach and sales opportunities for its embedded software. Ardence said it will announce details of the strategic sales partnership later this month along with the addition of additional Asia/Pacific channel partners.
-- Ardence said that as of Nov 1, 2005 it will no longer resell licenses of Microsoft's embedded operating systems, enabling a sharper focus on carrying out the strategic plan to enhance its own embedded software products by developing and delivering more valuable features and functionality. Ardence will continue to provide consulting services on Microsoft Windows embedded development projects and will retain its status as a Microsoft gold-level partner and as a Windows Embedded Partner.
-- In addition to intensifying efforts to develop and market software that controls and improves the performance of Windows operating systems - as both RTX and ReadyOn do - Ardence said it is continuing development of Phar Lap ETS.
"Our expertise and our success are in developing software that makes it possible for customers worldwide to solve significant business challenges and gain a competitive edge. RTX, ReadyOn and ETS do that on the embedded side of our business and the Ardence software-streaming products do that at the enterprise level. We view RTX and ReadyOn, in particular, as the major engines for the substantial growth opportunities we see in our embedded markets worldwide. We plan to take full advantage of those opportunities," said Richard J. Davis, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Ardence, Inc., which was formerly VenturCom.
"While we've made a strategic decision not to continue as a Microsoft embedded license reseller, we remain relentlessly focused on developing features and functionality for RTX and ReadyOn that will improve our customers' ability to better control Microsoft operating systems and improve the performance of Microsoft operating systems. We do that superbly right now and we are committed to doing so in the future, irrespective of the systems Microsoft develops," said Davis.
Davis said that in order to increase Ardence's market reach globally "we needed a much greater sales presence than we were able to bring to bear ourselves. We've selected an extremely able partner to help grow embedded sales. By partnering with a large, experienced sales organization we will increase opportunities for revenue growth. Most important to us was finding a sales partner with the capacity to deliver end-to-end solutions in which RTX and ReadyOn can be differentiating factors for their customers. Once our agreement is fully in place we see tremendous growth prospects for our embedded business because of the additional value that our products deliver in the Windows environment."
