The latest developments in Rhapsody 6.1 offers new Domain Specific Language (DSL) capabilities to systems engineers, bringing an unprecedented customization functionality to users, a feature that underpins the major enhancements found in the most recent release of this award-winning tool family. Using Rhapsody 6.1, a systems engineer can now not only develop Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) compliant systems quickly and easily, the user can also simulate the design and detect errors early in the design cycle. Accessing this powerful capability, aerospace and defense systems engineers can now work in an intuitive DoDAF look and feel environment, developing, debugging and automatically documenting DoDAF compliant systems. DoDAF, the aerospace and defense industry's modeling language, is intended to ensure that the architecture descriptions developed by the commands, services, and agencies are inter-relatable between and among each organization's operational, systems, and technical architecture views and are comparable and integrable across Joint and combined organizational boundaries.
Rhapsody 6.1 now provides an innovative solution to the systems engineer with an integrated requirements and design environment which is Systems Modeling Language (SysML) latest draft standard (v 0.91) compliant. The SysML modeling enhancements made to Rhapsody 6.1 benefit systems engineers with reduced errors, improved traceability, decreased ambiguity and enhanced communications. The latest Rhapsody release offers the systems engineer two new role-oriented packages created to meet each user's specific needs. The Systems Architect package is targeted to users whose focus is on drawing and design documentation. It features an intuitive drawing and design environment that is fully compliant with the latest SysML standard (v 0.91). The ergonomic look and feel includes easy installation, a systems tutorial documentation feature, systems samples and menu items provided in a natural way to systems engineers. Ease-of-use is enhanced with systems wizards, enhanced graphics support for user-defined graphics and a diagram navigator feature for large systems diagrams. Additionally, Systems Architect has a significant static analysis capability to ensure model consistency and model completeness. The SysML profile allows users to access requirements diagrams and notations, block diagrams, parametric diagrams and activity pins. The second role-oriented package now available with Rhapsody 6.1 is Systems Designer, targeted to users who are focused on systems design and validation. Systems Designer includes everything in the Systems Architect package plus a powerful simulation capability via easy GNU compiler install, an action language mapping guide and simulation menu item.
Rhapsody 6.1 continues to extend its market leading capabilities for the software developer in three distinct areas. First, Rhapsody 6.1 facilitates the development of safety critical applications by generating C code that is compliant with Motor Industry Software Reliability Association (MISRA) standards. Adopted and used across a wide variety of industries and applications including the rail, aerospace, military and medical sectors, the MISRA C standard enables developers to ensure the safety criticality of applications. Second, with automated support of Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA(R)) ports and types, Rhapsody 6.1 further automates the development of distributed applications. Third, by providing an Interrupt Driven Framework (IDF) Rhapsody 6.1 enables the development of applications that have a very small footprint. Typically these applications run in a highly resource constrained environment, usually without a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS).
