Atrica's Carrier Ethernet Systems Receive MEF Certification; Industry-Leading Solutions Comply With MEF's Global Carrier Ethernet Service Definitions
Posted on: Tuesday, 13 September 2005, 12:00 CDT
Atrica(TM), the Carrier Ethernet Company(TM), today announced that its industry-leading Carrier Ethernet Systems have received official compliance certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). The certification, which was announced during a special awards ceremony today at the 2005 Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Berlin, Germany, signifies that Atrica's Carrier Ethernet Systems comply with the MEF's Global Carrier Ethernet Service Definitions.
The Certification Program is a key step for the MEF in its mission to facilitate the provision of consistent Carrier Ethernet services worldwide. It is designed to help service providers better and more easily evaluate multiple vendors' equipment, respond more rapidly to new orders or upgrades, and keenly focus on delivering the full benefits of Carrier Ethernet services.
Atrica's products were tested by Iometrix in accordance with the MEF-approved "Test Plan for Ethernet Services at the UNI," with the results showing that Atrica delivers Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and E-LAN (Ethernet multipoint-to-multipoint) services compliant with the MEF 9 technical specification for such services.
"Receiving this certification is a natural step for Atrica as we continue to drive the Carrier Ethernet market forward," said Nan Chen, VP of Marketing for Atrica. "We've worked very closely with the MEF on this important program, with the goal of giving service providers another tool to help them more quickly deliver exciting new Carrier Ethernet service portfolios. With the MEF certification, carriers and service providers can have even greater confidence in our Carrier Ethernet product portfolio."
Atrica's Carrier Ethernet Systems
Designed specifically for the service provider environment, and proven in service provider deployments worldwide, Atrica's suite of Carrier Ethernet Systems is comprised of the A-100 and A-200 Carrier Ethernet Demarcation Devices, A-2000 family of Carrier Ethernet Edge Switches, the A-4000 family of Carrier Ethernet Aggregation Switches, the A-8000 Series of Carrier Ethernet Core Switches, and the Atrica Service Platform for Ethernet Networks (ASPEN(R)). The industry's first Carrier Ethernet solutions, Atrica's Carrier Ethernet Systems leverage the numerous benefits of Ethernet technology with innovations in traffic engineering/management and optical switching to meet the stringent demands of the next-generation transport network: high-performance/scalability, guaranteed, end-to-end service level agreements (SLAs), sub-50 millisecond network-wide resiliency, integrated TDM support, and point-and-click, centralized service provisioning and management.
Atrica's Carrier Ethernet technology unifies all of a carrier's transport networks onto an efficient, economical universal transport network. With Atrica, service providers can leverage the same transport network to profitably deliver the ultimate broadband triple play services experience to both their business and residential customers: Internet access from multi-megabit up to 100Mbps, Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS), video conferencing, and point-to-point Ethernet, along with residential Triple Play applications such as hundreds of TV channels, video on demand (VOD), personal video recording (PVR), interactive video applications such as remote learning and gaming, and voice and video telephony. With Atrica, service portfolios can be expanded, potential revenue streams can be increased, and operational expenses as a proportion of total revenue can be decreased.
