Intel, Sony Music to Make Quality Video Tech for Gadgets

Tokyo, Oct. 17 (Jiji Press)--Intel Corp. and Sony Music Entertainment Inc. said Friday they will jointly develop new technology that would allow users to enjoy quality sound and video on mobile phones and personal digital assistants.
Intel, the major U.S. chip manufacturer, and Sony Music, the major music company affiliated with Japan's Sony Corp. , will launch products based on the new technology in 2004 through collaboration with telecommunications carriers and handsets makers.
The technology will be used with mobile phones and PDAs equipped with Intel's central processing units.
Users of such devices will be able to enjoy digital music and video at personal computer quality levels.
