Sequoia Communications, the RF semiconductor company setting new benchmarks in multi-mode design and integration, today announced that Charlie Wilcoxson has joined the company as vice president of marketing and business development. He will lead the product definition and roadmap, as well as customer acquisition and strategic partnership activities necessary to deliver product solutions to handset OEMs and ODMs around the world. Mr. Wilcoxson joins the team as Sequoia Communications prepares to release their highly anticipated product line, beginning with the industry's first single-chip RF transceiver, due out this fall.
"Charlie has a broad range of experience in launching and growing businesses and technologies in the wireless industry," said CEO Dave Shepard. "He will be playing a key role in directing our product roadmaps and forming key partnerships to bring Sequoia Communications' multi-mode RF transceivers to fruition quickly."
Prior to joining Sequoia Communications, Mr. Wilcoxson was vice president of marketing and business development at Skyworks, where he was responsible for business and product strategy. While at Skyworks, he directed product and strategic marketing teams, as well as managed the customer design support teams of 120 engineers in five locations. Mr. Wilcoxson led the launch of Skyworks' complete system solution with Samsung. He then directed the efforts to expand the business beyond a single customer and product line by redefining the strategy, resulting in a base of more than 20 customers worldwide.
"My decision to come to Sequoia Communications was driven largely by their unique approach to solving the extremely difficult RF technology issue that affects the future of wireless handsets," said Wilcoxson. "I believe Sequoia Communications can provide a significant benefit to the multi-mode handset market with the level of integration achievable based on the patented Full-Spectra(TM) architecture."
Before Skyworks, Mr. Wilcoxson held various engineering and business management positions at Hughes Electronics. Mr Wilcoxson received his MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA while at Hughes. Mr. Wilcoxson holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
