Ardence Releases Version 6.5 of Market-Leading RTX Software

Posted on: Wednesday, 14 September 2005, 09:00 CDT

Ardence, a global leader in designing and developing software solutions that provide control, security, dependability and management to Windows(R) operating systems, today released version 6.5 of RTX, its market-leading embedded real-time solution.

RTX 6.5, builds on existing functionality by providing control of Intel SpeedStep(TM) technology; allowing interoperability between RTX and ReadyOn(R) - Ardence's instant-on software for Windows devices; adding support of PCI-X bus architectures; adding support of C and C++ STL for deterministic application development; and adding support for Intel Multi-core Pentium.

RTX provides functionality that gives developers deterministic control of Windows-based systems that require a high level of performance and scalability. This real-time control solution allows developers to reduce system costs; improve reliability; speed the time to market; and increase the performance of their applications.

New features introduced in version 6.5 include:

-- Control for Pentium M power and thermal functionality. RTX now enables designers to gain the low-power benefits provided by Pentium M with SpeedStep switching, without compromising the performance of the RTX application and the overall system. Without this critical control capability in RTX, Pentium M-based systems would incur measurable performance degradation;

-- Interoperability with ReadyOn. Ardence's corruption-proof, virus-proof, instant-on capability for Windows is now fully compatible with RTX. RTX-based systems can now be hardened, with boot time reduced to less than fifteen seconds;

-- Support for PCI-X based hardware. RTX 6.5 has been fully tested and qualified to ensure that systems with PCI-X buses have full compatibility with RTX;

-- Support for C and C++ application development languages. RTX 6.5 documentation now provides additional information on STL calls that support performance;

-- Support for Intel Multi-core Pentium. RTX has been tested and validated on the latest multi-core hardware.

"We're continuing to invest in RTX and we're delivering functionality that solves significant customer challenges," said Stephen Woodard, Ardence Senior Vice President of Global Operations. "This product has proven itself in numerous vertical markets, and we're going to remain the leader in controlling Windows by continuous improvement and by being very focused on delivering solutions based on market needs," said Woodard.

About Ardence, Inc.

Ardence, Inc. - formerly VenturCom, Inc. - is a global leader in designing and developing software solutions that enhance the control, dependability and management of Windows(R) operating systems. The company's embedded solutions include RTX, Phar Lap ETS and ReadyOn. RTX is a real-time solution that enhances the control of Windows, providing greater flexibility and reliability. Phar Lap ETS is the smallest-footprint Win32 real-time operating system in the market, and ReadyOn provides instant-on functionality for Windows devices. Ardence streaming-software solutions (formerly BXP) enable on-demand streaming of the operating system and applications, providing economic, system-management, and user benefits at the desktop and in the data center. Additionally, because it is a software-only solution, Ardence software streaming works with, and extends the life of existing hardware. Ardence streaming solutions have widespread application throughout the Enterprise and are deployed world-wide.
