Horizon, Alaska Air Switch From Paper to E-Tickets

Posted on: Friday, 16 September 2005, 15:00 CDT

Sep. 16--Alaska and Horizon airlines announced Thursday that they would stop issuing paper tickets for fare-paying passengers.

The two airlines instead will use so-called "e-tickets" to confirm passengers have bought passage on their flights.

The airlines said electronic tickets offer advantages for both the airline and for customers.

Distribution costs for e-tickets are less because they can be electronically transmitted to passengers. And electronic tickets are better for customers because they can't be lost or stolen as paper tickets can.
