Convedia Corporation today announced that XO Interactive, an XO Communications (OTCBB:XOCM.OB) service, has deployed Convedia's CMS-6000 media servers in its nationwide Voice over IP (VOIP) network. Convedia's CMS-6000 media servers are a critical element of XO's Interactive Voice Response (IVR) infrastructure, and power IVR and out-dialing services for XO's global customer base.
Convedia's CMS-6000 media servers were selected and deployed by XO after an extensive assessment of the open IVR solutions available in the market. Convedia's support for SIP, along with XML-based scripting languages like VoiceXML and MSML/MOML, allowed XO Interactive to rapidly develop, integrate, and deploy feature-rich IVR applications for their customer's specific requirements. The CMS-6000 media processing platform not only delivered unprecedented scalability and reliability for hosted IVR solutions, but also provided XO with an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) compliant platform to enable future services such as voice conferencing, personalized ringback tones and multimedia-enabled services.
"The growth and sophistication of our customer's IVR service requirements motivates XO Interactive to invest in the most advanced, versatile, and cost-effective technologies available," said Jeff Bradley, vice president and general manager of XO Interactive, Inc. "Convedia media servers stood out from the pack because they delivered an open standards-based media processing platform that combined technical excellence with compelling economics. We are pleased to add Convedia as a trusted vendor in our network."
XO Interactive is a leading provider of hosted IVR and packaged IVR Solutions. XO Interactive owns and operates its own IVR Application Service Provider (ASP) and has been developing, hosting and servicing IVR applications for nearly 15 years. With an expertise in evaluating customer needs and utilizing best-in-class technology, XO Interactive has developed IVR applications for a vast array of companies and industries providing solutions such as large scale Outdial applications, Prepaid Calling Card functionality, Enhanced Call Routing and VoiceXML hosting services. Other everyday applications include: locating a local retailer via a toll-free number; obtaining bank balance information from a bank; or renewing a driver's license from the state department of motor vehicles.
By incorporating Convedia's media servers into its existing infrastructure, XO Interactive will be fully equipped to take advantage of new IP-enabled service opportunities both now and in the future. The deployment also underscores the economic importance of common, versatile media processing infrastructure that can be reused and shared across numerous applications and customer requirements.
"Hosted service providers are increasingly turning to IP-enabled infrastructures because it allows them to launch new services faster and more efficiently while driving the costs out of their service delivery platform," said Peter Briscoe, president and CEO of Convedia. "With Convedia's media servers, XO can reap the vast benefits of IP-based technology, allowing them to introduce a whole new class of revenue-generating services with their existing IVR offerings. We're thrilled that they've selected our products to help them fuel growth into new service opportunities and markets."
Convedia will be showcasing the CMS-6000 and CMS-1000 Media Servers at the Fall VON Conference, September 19-22, in Boston, Massachusetts (Booth# 821).
