OAUG Forms Alliance With Oracle Retail Users Group

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG), the world's largest user knowledgebase for Oracle(R) Applications users, has formed an alliance with the Oracle Retail Users Group (formerly the Retek Users Group), an organization serving Retek, Inc.'s customers.
The alliance comes in the wake of Oracle's acquisition of Retek, Inc., earlier this year. Previously, the Retek Users Group was run by its parent company, Retek, Inc., but this relationship changed after the merger and the Retek Users Group's members chose to form an alliance with the OAUG. This relationship enables the Oracle Retail Users Group to maintain its distinct identity as the primary user group dealing with Retek software applications, while being fully integrated under the umbrella of the OAUG.
"We decided to form the alliance with the OAUG because it was in our membership's best interests," said Joel Lauterbach, interim president of the Oracle Retail Users Group. "The OAUG's 15-year history, proven track record and established channels of influence with Oracle are enabling us to quickly integrate and develop a significant voice to Oracle, while retaining all of the retail focus of our previous organization."
The OAUG provides the Oracle Retail Users Group with strategic guidance and assistance in navigating the Oracle landscape. In addition, the OAUG is poised to assist the Oracle Retail Users Group with implementing best practices and the development of its organizational structure, which will enable the group to strategically align its initiatives with Oracle.
The Oracle Retail Users Group's transition committee is working with the OAUG to conduct the organization's election of new officers, which is expected to take place at the end of 2005. The organization has obtained seats on the board of directors of the OAUG and the International Oracle Users Council.
Plans are also being made to add the Oracle Retail Users Group to the COLLABORATE 06 conference of the OAUG, the International Oracle Users Group and Quest International Users Group being held in Nashville, Tenn., April 23 - 27, 2006.
"Since many Retek customers are also Oracle or PeopleSoft customers, COLLABORATE 06 will offer retailers a venue to bring all of their technology needs together at one place and time," said Lauterbach.
"This alliance between the OAUG and the Oracle Retail Users Group further strengthens the Oracle community," said Patricia Dues, president of OAUG. "By coming together, we further increase the impact of our collective voice within the community and expand the networking and educational opportunities for members of both organizations."
