APPLETON, Wis., Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation (AWAC) is proud to be placed on the IOSA Registry following the successful completion of the IATA Operations Safety Audit (IOSA).
AWAC is one of 57 global airlines and one of only 5 regional airlines to have achieved IOSA Registration. The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is an internationally accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. IOSA uses internationally recognized quality audit principles, and audits are conducted in a standardized and consistent manner. The program is designed to maximize quality, integrity and security, so that mutually interested airlines and regulators can all comfortably accept IOSA audit reports.
"The successful completion of our IOSA audit is a direct result of the commitment of every AWAC employee towards upholding and complying with superior safety standards, regulations and industry best practices," said Chief Operating Officer, Pat Thompson. "We welcome the confirmation from IATA of our high standards of quality and operational safety."
AWAC operates as the largest privately held regional airline in the United States. AWAC schedules more than 500 departures per day to 68 cities in 27 states and two Canadian provinces. The fleet includes 70 Canadair Regional Jets and 10 BAe-146 Jets. In August 2005, AWAC joined the US Airways team as a US Airways Express carrier and will be serving their Philadelphia hub as well as other locations in their system. As United Express, AWAC feeds United Airlines at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, Denver International Airport and Washington's Dulles International. Approximately 3,400 people make up the AWAC team.
