Toshiba's Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. and provider of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related services and products celebrating Toshiba's 20th anniversary of the first mass-marketed laptop computer, today announced the Satellite(R) L25 Series notebook computer, a well-equipped, value-priced notebook ideal for PC users new to mobile computing.
The Satellite L25 Series features a 15-inch diagonal display enhanced with Toshiba TruBrite(TM) technology, an Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor(1) and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home in an easily portable form factor starting at 5.88 pounds(2).
The notebook also includes a combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive allowing users to view movies and listen to and share music, and a 5400 rpm hard drive(3) for quicker access to stored files including mp3, picture and video files. The Satellite L25 Series also features easy-to-use CD/DVD control buttons located near the keyboard, making it simple to enjoy movies and music on the go.
"Toshiba's L25 Series is an outstanding choice for first-time notebook buyers who don't want to sacrifice features or quality to get a great price," said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems. "Most models in the series have integrated wireless for on-the-go computing, a feature many value notebooks do not offer."
"Additionally, the bright screen and multimedia features make this notebook an impressive fit for those looking to move from a desktop to a notebook while keeping budget in mind," Barney said.
To help stay connected while traveling for business or leisure, the Satellite L25 notebook line integrates Toshiba ConfigFree(R) software, the company's intuitive graphic connectivity management utility for optimum wireless access.
Included Microsoft(TM) Office OneNote(TM) 2003 software enables users to better capture, organize, find and share notes gathered from e-mail, meetings, presentations, classes, the Web and other sources. OneNote captures virtually any type of information -- ranging from typed notes to audio -- in a single convenient place.
Also included is Microsoft Works Version 8.0, an extensive productivity package for home as well as small office/home office (SOHO) users for word processing, spreadsheets, and database creation and management.
A 30-day trial of McAfee(R) VirusScan(TM) is included on the Satellite L25-S119. McAfee VirusScan detects, blocks, and removes viruses and spyware that may result in the loss of irreplaceable documents such as digital photos, family movies and financial spreadsheets, identity theft and slower PC performance.
The Satellite L25 Series comes with a standard one-year limited warranty. The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may utilize any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround. Customers can also choose to upgrade the notebook's service plans, including up to four years of extended service plans.
Toshiba offers Ask Iris(R) Online, an instant response information service that can alert users to security software patches or provide other information regarding their product from Toshiba engineers and technical support staff.
A special offer of MyConnect(TM) Internet Access Service (www.toshibamyconnect.com) is included, providing notebook computer users unlimited Internet access in hotels, airports, restaurants, bookstores and other locations via Wi-Fi(R), broadband cable or dial-up connection.
Accessories for the Satellite L25 line are available from ToshibaDirect (www.toshibadirect.com) and include the Toshiba Primary High 8-cell battery pack, Toshiba 5-Pocket Ballistic Nylon carrying case and USB Ultra-Mini Retractable Scroller Mouse.
Special configurations of the Satellite L25 Series are available at major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide starting under $1,000.
Toshiba is committed to offering consumers the most competitive pricing possible, regularly offering rebate and other discount programs to its retailers. Consumers should check local stores and newspaper advertisements for current retail pricing on Toshiba notebook PCs.
