Glimmerglass to Showcase a New Solution for Optical Networks at ECOC 2005; New Release of Its Intelligent Optical Switches Extends Company's Leadership in Automated Fiber Management

Glimmerglass, a provider of intelligent optical switches, will unveil a new automated fiber management solution designed for high-performance optical networks at ECOC 2005 in Glasgow, Scotland. Glimmerglass will demonstrate this new product at the show in booth # 412, Sept. 26-28, 2005.

Glimmerglass' new Optical Networking Solution is ideal for building IP over Optics networks. Network engineers can integrate this transparent, layer-1, single-mode fiber switch with conventional networking equipment to economically connect, protect, and monitor 10 Gigabit bandwidths. The product was engineered for mission-critical applications in data and telecommunications facilities carrying commercial traffic. It includes a high-performance intelligent optical switch, fault-tolerant redundant power, and automatic connection monitoring, protection, and link restoration.

The Glimmerglass solution monitors optical power levels and connection statuses on all fibers in real-time. It also includes Glimmerglass' new ClickFlow user interface. ClickFlow presents real-time, dynamic information on connections and fibers, enables 1-click switch reconfigurations, supports nameable fibers, can save and reload connection-settings, secures connections by user-ID, provides drop-down menus, printable reports, and more -- all via a standard browser over a local Ethernet or global Internet connection.
