Carphone Warehouse Drives Business Performance With Informatica Data Integration

LONDON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Informatica Corporation , a leading provider of data integration software, today announced that The Carphone Warehouse, Europe's leading independent mobile communications retailer, has successfully implemented the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform for more rapid, reliable access to worldwide sales and call-detail information on a daily basis. Replacing a custom, hand-coded method for data integration, Informatica PowerCenter has helped The Carphone Warehouse to streamline key business processes, improve cash-flow procedures and, ultimately, increase profitability.
"Accuracy and speed of management information is not a luxury, it is something that enables our business to function more effectively and be more profitable," said David Parfett, head of relational technologies at The Carphone Warehouse. "Using Informatica to integrate our worldwide sales data into a centralized data warehouse, we now provide morning bulletins to every store manager to recap the last 24 hours of business. Previously, that process was carried out monthly and took several days to compile. Now, we can provide the data very quickly while ensuring its accuracy and completeness."
PowerCenter automatically integrates data streams from each of the company's sales feeds worldwide, including call-detail records from mobile customers, handset sales, and fixed-line business and insurance products. Its integrity ensured, the information is consolidated into a daily sales bulletin that details how each store is performing against pre-set business targets, which enables call data to be easily assessed so that cross-charging to mobile operators and tax liabilities can be quickly and accurately calculated -- thus enhancing cashflow and positively impacting profitability.
"A clear category leader, The Carphone Warehouse presents an excellent example of a company using timely consolidated information to drive new operational efficiencies and competitive advantage," said Dave Berry, senior vice president of EMEA, Informatica. "With data acquisition and integration processes residing on a single platform, retail and other enterprises are able to adapt more quickly to changing sales and operational conditions as well as to evolving end-user information needs."
The Carphone Warehouse Group PLC is Europe's leading independent mobile communications retailer. The company operates across 10 markets and employs over 12,000 people working across the stores, the support centers, the call centers, the online teams and the direct sales teams (telesales).
