Airbus refuses to comment over JetBlue A320's emergency landing

PARIS, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The European aircraft maker Airbus has refused to comment on the opening of a US probe aiming at finding out the cause of the emergency landing of an Airbus A320 run by JetBlue Airways.

"Airbus is not making any comment ahead of the results of the NTSB's inquiry," a spokeswoman for the company said Friday.

According to American media quoting authorities figures, it is at least the seventh time an A320 has been forced to land with the front landing gear twisted at a 90 degree angle.

Officials from the US National Transportation Safety Board ( NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration have begun their inquiry into the accident, which was televised live. None of the 140 passengers, two flight crew and four cabin crew were injured.

Airbus is 80 percent owned by the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company and 20 percent owned by the British BAE Systems.
