Posted on: Tuesday, 27 September 2005, 09:00 CDT
Ample Communications, a leading provider of communications silicon for wire line network systems, today announced that Korea-based Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) has collaborated with Ample Communications to develop ETRI's security platform. Ample developed the hardware and ETRI is adding its software to deliver the security platform.
ETRI is currently working with Tier 1, Korea-based OEMs to bring the security platform to market. Ample's solution enables ETRI to easily design a customized Internet Appliance with a variety of interface types and capabilities. Because of the interface flexibility, ETRI has significantly reduced its cost and development time. The Ample solution is comprised of SPI-4.2 Ethernet Network Interface Cards (NICs) and a 5 Gbps packet processing card.
"Ample's hardware solution offers the features that we needed, allowing us to concentrate our efforts on software product development," said Ki-Young Kim, PhD, team leader at ETRI. "The platform enables us to easily and quickly integrate our software into a production-ready Internet appliance, significantly decreasing our time to market."
