Toshiba Develops Notebook PC With High-Definition DVD Drive

Sep. 27--TOKYO -- Toshiba Corp. said Tuesday it has developed the world's first notebook computer integrating a high-definition DVD drive and will put the product on sale next year.
Toshiba said the computer will be sold initially in Japan.
The computer gives users access to high-definition video images recorded in the HD-DVD format. The HD-DVD drive can also read and burn standard DVDs and CDs.
