Alaska Airlines has started its operations to Mexico City, and with this new addition the company has increased the number of destinations from Los Angeles, California to Mexico by 9. The Alaska Airlines director in Mexico, Julin Acosta y Castella, said that "Alaska Airlines has been looking forward to starting services to Mexico City for 10 years". Alaska Airlines took over the route after Delta Air Lines recently decided to abandon it. The flight will be operated by a Boeing 737-700, which has a capacity for 120 passengers, and Alaska Airlines is optimistic that they will serve at least 100 passengers per day, with projections at 73,000 passengers every year. The actual Alaska Airlines fleet consists of 111 aircrafts, and in the next year it will be adding 35 new Boeing 737-800. Alaska Airlines was established 72 years ago, with flights to Mexico since 1988. Nowadays, the airline provides service to 1 million passengers every year, taking them to exciting destinations such as Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mazatln, Guadalajara, Cancun and now Mexico City.
