Delta Adds Its First D/FW Airport Flight Since Its Hub Cutback in January

Sep. 28–Delta Air Lines is adding its first new flight from Dallas/Fort Worth Airport since the airline dismantled its hub there in January.

Executives with Atlanta-based Delta said Tuesday that they will launch nonstop service between D/FW and Orlando, Fla. The new flight will begin Nov. 1 and will be operated under the Delta Connection name by regional carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines.

The flight doesn’t signal a D/FW comeback for Delta. An airline spokesman said the new route is part of an expansion in Orlando, where Delta is adding five new destinations.

Delta has eliminated its long-standing hub at D/FW, cutting its daily flights from 254 to 21.
