Persona Software Introduces Major New Version of Persona OnePhone(TM) Solution for Fixed Mobile Convergence; Ready for Service Provider Deployments

Persona Software, Inc., the leading developer of SIP-based Personal Mobility Applications, today announced a major new version of its Persona OnePhone(TM) solution for Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC).

Persona OnePhone 2.0 provides support for an expanded range of dual mode (WiFi/cellular) handsets and operating systems including Symbian OS, which is the operating system used by many of the world's leading handset manufacturers. In addition, this latest version of Persona OnePhone adds several important end user features; increases security capabilities; and integrates seamlessly with the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), which is the basis for FMC and future converged services.

Persona OnePhone 2.0 further enhances Persona Software's leadership in the FMC market and gives carriers a robust FMC solution based on mature, proven SIP-based technology that they can deploy in their networks now.

Expanded OS Support

Persona OnePhone 2.0 adds support for three additional operating systems:

-- Symbian OS(TM), the advanced, open operating system licensed by the world's leading mobile phone manufacturers and designed for the specific requirements of advanced mobile phones, including converged mobile devices. Symbian OS combines the power of an integrated applications environment with mobile telephony, bringing advanced data services to the mass market. Symbian OS supports a wide range of device categories including popular mobile devices from leading manufacturers.

-- Windows Mobile 5.0(TM), the latest version of the mobile operating system from Microsoft. More than 40 mobile device makers are shipping innovative Windows Mobile-based products with 68 mobile operators in 48 countries. These hardware and mobile operator partners have contributed to Windows Mobile revenue growth of 31 percent from 2003 to 2004 and phone license sales more than double those of the previous year.

-- Micro Linux Mobile. Several leading mobile handset manufacturers including Motorola, Samsung, NEC, and Panasonic either currently offer or have announced plans to offer Linux-based mobile handsets. Today, smart phones running Linux represent over ten percent of Motorola's phone sales in the huge and rapidly growing China market, where it enjoys the number one market position.

Persona OnePhone will continue to provide support for Microsoft Windows 2003(TM), which runs on popular PDAs and smart phones from several top manufacturers.

Other Important New Features

Persona OnePhone 2.0 includes other important new features:

-- Adds new business, consumer, and regulatory features such as emergency service support, call transfer, ring-back when free, click-to-dial, and many other features that expand the mainstream market appeal of FMC services;

-- Strengthens security capabilities, a key requirement for mobile enterprises, by expanding support for IP Sec over both WiFi and GPRS networks;

-- Integrates seamlessly with the IP Multimedia System (IMS), enabling service providers to start delivering IMS/3G applications now while migrating at their own pace to IMS.

-- Meets the key requirements stated recently in the product requirements document issued recently by the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance (FMCA), a group of approximately 30 leading carriers worldwide that are promoting adoption of FMC. These carriers serve more than 440 million customers worldwide.

Availability

Persona OnePhone 2.0 will be available for release to networking companies for solution integration on November 15.
