Disaster Agencies May Accelerate Move to Handheld Devices for Emergency Communication; Shift in Trend Could Signal More Rapid Uptake of RMSG into Marketplace

Posted on: Thursday, 29 September 2005, 15:00 CDT

Roaming Messenger(R) (OTCBB:RMSG), the provider of a breakthrough mobile messaging technology, today reports that in the wake of recent natural disasters, emergency communications solutions being considered by governmental agencies may be tipping the scales from radio to handheld devices such as BlackBerries and other personal digital assistant types of devices. This shift in trend could rapidly accelerate the adoption of Roaming Messenger's interactive mobile messaging technology into the marketplace.

An article in September 17th's Federal Computer Week, entitled "Handheld Devices, Not Radios, Could be Key to Emergency Communications" by Dibya Sarkar, reports a former associate director for national preparedness training and exercises at the Federal Emergency Management Agency during the Clinton administration, suggesting there will be greater use of handheld devices in such situations.

"I think, increasingly, we're probably going to operate out of BlackBerries and (personal digital assistants) to access the tracking systems we have or even the media interface, weather information, field imagery, and rostering of teams and notification systems," said FEMA's former associate director, and current industry insider.

Roaming Messenger's interoperability across wired and wireless devices is highlighted by its unique ability to deliver many types of information to a broad range of handheld devices. Roaming Messenger's ability to track down recipients wherever they are and bring the responses back to a diversified and potentially far flung command and control structure, makes RMSG a superior choice for this otherwise daunting task.

"We are currently in various stages of technological evaluation and application integration with several of the country's larger system integrators, and we are pleased to see this new emphasis on handheld devices. We believe this can only accelerate our business development process," concluded Jon Lei, Roaming Messenger's CEO.
