Sep. 29--DAYTON -- Teradata, a division of NCR Corp., will supply a data warehouse for the Wright Center of Innovation for Advanced Data Management and Analysis. It will support research and development projects in Ohio by the center's 23 academic, government and industry partners.
The center's mission is to create new high-wage, high-tech jobs in Ohio by commercializing leading-edge research in advanced data management and analysis. Specifically, the center focuses on technologies linked to improving the acquisition, management, analysis and delivery of large volumes of complex data.
The center is based at Wright State University.
NCR is a founding member of the center, along with other prominent Ohio technology companies such as LexisNexis, Reynolds and Reynolds, Standard Register and Cincom Systems.
Wright State is the center's lead institution with cost-share commitments from Kent State University, Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati and University of Dayton. The Air Force Research Lab at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is collaborating through the Wright Brothers Institute.
"We needed a robust, scalable environment to support the growth of data centric applications aligned with our long-range goals, and Teradata was chosen because it is a powerful, scalable system that can grow as (the center) grows," said Ken Berta, the center's chief marketing officer.
In addition to the data warehouse, Teradata will contribute and implement its supply chain intelligence software to support the development of the new master's in logistics program at the Raj Soin School of Business at Wright State University.
This will allow students to gain first-hand experience in the emerging Data Intensive Supply Chain that will enhance the performance of Ohio's manufacturing logistics businesses.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
