ACCO Design Chooses Xpedion For RFIC Simulation; GoldenGate Delivers Fast and Accurate Results on Complete Receiver Circuits
MILPITAS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 9, 2003–Xpedion Design Systems, the RFIC simulation company, today announced that Advanced Circuit Concepts (ACCO), provider of design services to radio frequency (RF) integrated circuit (IC) manufacturers for the global broadband communications and wireless connectivity markets, has chosen to use Xpedion’s GoldenGate RF circuit simulation tools for analysis of its most difficult designs. GoldenGate allows ACCO designers to utilize Harmonic Balance (HB) techniques to analyze and optimize high frequency amplifiers, mixers and oscillators.
A key factor in ACCO’s decision was GoldenGate’s capability to simulate designs developed in the Cadence Analog Design Environment (ADE) without migration to or from any other format. GoldenGate v3.2 can read Spectre foundry libraries and models in their native format.
“Today’s wireless devices need Adjacent Channel Power Ratio (ACPR) and Third Order Intercept Point (IP3) analyses completed rapidly and prior to tapeout. GoldenGate completed these types of transistor level analyses on our entire receiver chain configuration in just minutes — the fastest simulation tool I’ve seen to date,” said Dr. Vincent Geffroy, ACCO RFIC design expert.
“At first I found the performance and capacity claims Xpedion was making hard to believe; but then I saw the tool plow through one of my most complex receiver chains, including a 300 transistor LNA – Down Conversion Mixer. The tool converged and returned accurate results, when other simulators couldn’t even finish their HB setup prerequisites.”
