Your Kid Could be the First App Star

September 9, 2011

Three kids will win being drawn as cartoons and added to “Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island,” a “Top 25 Most Essential Children’s Book App!” Simply draw a treasure map to enter.

Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) September 09, 2011

First there were radio stars, then TV stars, nowâ¦.app stars! Treasure Bound Books, creator of the interactive book app, âœTreasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island,â is launching a treasure hunt of its own for three children aged 4-12 to feature as cartoons in the Treasure Kai app.

As part of the âœBe an App Starâ contest, award-winning illustrator of Treasure Kai, Vic Guiza, will draw the winners onto Main Street next to Kaiâs treasure shop. To âœauditionâ for the cameo roles, children illustrate their most creative treasure maps and place Kai somewhere on the map. Parents can submit their childâs creations to Treasure Bound Books via email or the web site: http://www.treasurekai.com/appstar. Submissions will be accepted throughout the month of September.

âœAs Iâve visited schools over the years, Iâve seen that kids are excited to share their ideas for stories and to get sneak peeks behind the scenes of creating a book app,â said author of Treasure Kai, Karen Robertson. âœThe â˜Be an App Starâ contest is a great way to involve our readers in the creative process and to be inspired by their visions of a treasure hunt. We are co-creating with our readers, which is fitting because our readers co-create with the Treasure Kai app every time they interact with it.â

In October, Treasure Bound Books will choose 10 semi finalists from each age group of 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. A public online vote will determine which five semi-finalists will advance. A panel of guest judges (see list below) will select one winner from each age group. Winners will be announced in mid November and appear in the app beginning in December.

The Panel of Guest Judges are:

Daphne Brogdon of CoolMom.com

Miss Lori – Children’s Television Host and Social Media Marketainer, MissLorisCAMPUS.com / MissLori.TV

Shannon des Roches Rosa – Blog Her and Thinking Parents Guide to Autism

Lorraine Akemann â“ co-founder of Moms with Apps

Rachael Bermingham – best selling co-author of the 4 Ingredients cookbooks & CEO of Bermingham Books Publishing

Throughout the duration of the contest, from September 1 – November 30, 2011, five cents from every purchase of the Treasure Kai book app will go to the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia. Starlight brightens the lives of seriously ill and hospitalized children and their families throughout Australia by providing a range of programs aimed at supporting and improving resilience and well-being. http://www.treasurekai.com/starlight.

The âœTreasure Kaiâ book app was recently named a âœBest of the Best, Top 25 Essential Childrenâs Book Appâ by Digital Storytime.
