Posted on: Wednesday, 5 October 2005, 12:00 CDT

Murray to Leverage More Than 20 Years of Software Development Industry Experience to Extend the Impact of CollabNet across the Entire Distributed Application Lifecycle

CollabNet, the leading provider of on-demand (SaaS) distributed software development solutions, today announced the company has appointed Richard Murray as vice president of engineering. Murray brings more than 20 years of experience in the software development industry, the majority of which has focused on enterprise software development and organizational transformation. He will manage global software engineering efforts to promote the continued growth and success of existing CollabNet solutions and lead the development of the company's next generation offerings.

Murray's initial area of focus at CollabNet will be to direct and manage the progression of the recently launched CollabNet(R) Enterprise Edition 4.0. The launch of version 4.0 and the accompanying CollabNet Application Lifecycle Manager and family of CollabNet Connectors represent a significant strategic move by the company to further extend company's industry-leading distributed development technology across the entire application lifecycle. Murray will lead the global development team to drive innovation into the CollabNet platform as product demands increase as the on-demand distributed development market matures and user needs grow.

"Richard has a terrific track record of growing development teams and helping them deliver world class and innovative products to market," said Bill Portelli, president and CEO of CollabNet. "In addition, Richard was an early visionary of globally distributed software development. As a Reuter's executive, he drove the transformation of Reuters' software development where he implemented a centralized global and collaborative development process based on the use of CollabNet Enterprise Edition. As we extend CollabNet solutions as a neutral, open, and extensible platform throughout the distributed application lifecycle, I am confident that Richard's extensive engineering and practical distributed development experience will help continually deliver innovation solutions to our customers."

Murray joins CollabNet from Reuters Ltd. where most recently he served as vice president of engineering. During this time he created the Reuters Developer Network as part of a global transformation initiative designed to establish a more open, standardized, and simplified development environment within Reuters. This was achieved by utilizing the CollabNet distributed software development environment. He also managed Enterprise Solutions development including building the core of Reuters's strategic Market Data Distribution System and extending this platform's reach to the Internet by building the Reuters Internet Finance Platform. Murray held additional executive-level roles during his tenure at Reuters that contributed to more streamlined operations and millions of dollars in annual cost savings.

Prior to Reuters, Murray served as vice president of engineering at TIBCO Finance Technology, Inc., where he oversaw enterprise software engineering activities in both the U.S. and the UK. In the UK he led the creation of TIBCO Finance's first non-U.S. product development center. Additionally, Murray served in several management roles in the UK at Digital (now HP), British Aerospace, and GEC/Marconi, where Murray spent more than 10 years overseeing software engineering initiatives. Murray holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree with which he graduated with First-Class Honors.

"Having been actively involved in the globalization of enterprise software development, I have been continually impressed with the commitment of CollabNet to the software development industry and their vital role in helping shape the distributed software development market," said Murray. "This is an exciting opportunity for me to join a company that is truly on the cutting-edge of the industry and I look forward to contributing to continued growth and success."
