NavGate Technologies Launches Groundbreaking Disability, Long Term Care, Elder Care Assistance Program for Insurance and Financial Professionals

Posted on: Thursday, 6 October 2005, 09:00 CDT

NavGate Technologies and its affiliate, CareQuest University, today launched CareOptionsOnLine(TM), a web-based program offering complete online assistance for individuals and families coping with sickness, disability, the effects of aging, and many other challenges of daily living. CareOptionsOnLine, available to CareQuest University students and graduates, combines interactive need assessment and care-planning tools with a care-resource database containing more than one million records, such as reference articles, and a national locator of physicians, care facilities, home care providers and other service providers. CareQuest University students and graduates can offer the CareOptionsOnLine service to employers, affinity groups, associations and their policyholders.

The launch of CareOptionsOnLine marks the culmination of a five-year collaborative effort between NavGate and CareQuest University, to create a powerful tool that helps people understand and address the many care-related issues affecting personal and financial well-being. The program's interactive assessment and care-planning tools are designed to help the user understand the care needs and financial impact associated with a broad range of illnesses, disabilities and age-related conditions. The extensive database and provider look-up capability make it easy to locate the most relevant information and the most appropriate providers to address the user's needs.

"CareOptionsOnLine harnesses the power of 21st-Century technology to create a program that takes much of the stress and confusion out of the situations that confront people who must care for an elderly parent or develop a coherent plan to meet all of the needs arising from a disabling medical condition," said David G. Wegge, Ph.D., Dean and Chief Academic Officer, CareQuest University. "But it goes far beyond that to help people deal with issues such as locating a physician for a child who is away at school, finding resources to help manage Diabetes or other medical conditions, or preparing an advance directive expressing end-of-life wishes."

CareOptionsOnLine includes an interactive care-planning function, developed with input from professional care managers. It guides the user, step by step, through the entire process of developing a comprehensive care plan. The system automatically incorporates the results of assessment tools, cost calculators and resource searches into a care plan that can be stored in a secure, online file cabinet and printed out for use in discussions with physicians, service providers and family members.

In addition to names, addresses and phone numbers of physicians, hospitals, nursing and assisted living facilities, and home-care providers, adult residential living, the CareOptionsOnLine database includes any available quality information about providers. For example, CareOptionsOnLIne offers its exclusive comparative quality provider data including staffing and problem areas and compares them to state and U. S. averages. This information can be very useful to a family trying to decide the best facility or service for a loved one.

"We are excited that our collaboration with CareQuest University has resulted in a program with such great potential to help individuals and families solve immediate problems and plan for their future needs," said Robert Pearson, CEO, NavGate Technologies. Initially, CareOptionsOnLine will be available only through individuals who are enrolled in or have completed one of the certification programs offered by CareQuest University. Human Resources professionals, insurance brokers and agents, care professionals, financial advisors and other financial services professionals who enroll in the Certified Care Resource Specialists (CCRS) or Long Term Care Group Specialist (LTCGS) will be given immediate access to CareOptionsOnLine.
