New Technology Could Replace Painful Injections for Delivery of Vaccines and Other Drugs

AerovectRx Corporation, developers of new pain-free, nebulizer technology for mass-immunization and point-of care drug delivery, announced that it will be presenting at 10:55 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Medtech Insight's "Investment In Innovation (In3) BOSTON: A Preview of Early-Stage Medical Technology Companies" Conference, taking place October 10-11, 2005 at The Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston, MA.
"AerovectRx's unique, painless technology platform provides access to multiple drug delivery segments including the $17 billion respiratory care market as well as the multi-billion dollar vaccine delivery market, which includes influenza, measles, rubella, chicken pox, and tetanus just to name a few," said Matthew H.J. Kim, Founder and CEO of AerovectRx. "We believe that our technology is attractive to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies seeking to maximize delivery of their drugs and to physicians seeking to remove the pain barrier of injections in a simple and effective manner."
The AerovectRx platform technology centers on an innovative nebulizer delivery system licensed from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that provides for highly efficient and effective inhaled delivery of vaccines and therapeutics. The product platform consists of a hand-held delivery device with a medicine cartridge accessory and a targeted patient interface such as mask. The company's initial product will be the multi-use, mass-inoculation Aerolife(TM) system -- the first multiple-use mass-immunization nebulizer drug delivery system. The next generation of the technology will be in the form of the Aerocurrent(TM) system designed for use in the point-of-care market to deliver vaccines and therapeutics in already established markets.
"Our system's design provides for a platform and consumable accessories revenue stream in addition to the delivery agent being administered. We plan to partner with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with an established market presence and a sales and distribution infrastructure already in place. Potential customers include public health agencies such as CDC, American Red Cross, WHO for the mass-immunization Aerolife(TM) system and personalized point-of-care settings such as hospitals, doctors's offices and clinics for the Aerocurrent(TM) system," said Mr. Kim.
