LignUp Helps Lower Barriers to Market Entry for New Livingston VoIP Service

LignUp Corporation, a provider of Web services based converged communications solutions, today announced that Livingston Telephone, a rural Texas ILEC and pioneer in IP voice, video and data service delivery, has deployed the LignUp Communications Solution to provide Voice over IP (VoIP) services to its rural customer base.
Founded in 1903, Livingston Telephone (LivTel) has become a pioneer in IP Triple Play service provisioning, and has been offering IP video services (cable television channels and video on-demand) to its customers since 2001. The company also wholesales those services to nearby, smaller ILECs, such as neighboring Lake Livingston Telephone. This new, high-value Livingston VoIP service will protect the local carrier's business from service providers attempting to capture its customer base with competing telephony services.

The LignUp Communications Solution is a Web services based VoIP communications platform deployed with hosted telephony, voice mail, unified messaging, auto attendant and other Web applications. LignUp Call Control XML (CCTRL), LignUp Media Control XML (MCTRL), and Voice XML allow service providers to rapidly and cost-effectively develop customized hosted telephony services. The LignUp platform also allowed Livingston to implement service features such as E911 services and seamless local number portability (LNP), allowing Livingston customers to keep the phone numbers they have held for years.
