MacNair Travel Provides Tips to Reduce Travel Costs at Free Workshop; Take the Online Route to Lower Fares and Fees

Posted on: Tuesday, 11 October 2005, 09:00 CDT

MacNair Travel Management, a privately owned American Express Representative Office, announced today that Michael MacNair, its president & CEO, will lead a Travel Management Teleconference Workshop, titled "Take the Online Route to Lower Fares and Fees", on October 13, 2005 from 12:00pm--2:00pm.

With the focus on saving money and time, MacNair will highlight best practices including GetThere's Corporate Travel Benchmark Report results to provide guidance on taming travel management costs by addressing the principals of travel management and using online travel tools.

"Participants will learn they can save money on all sectors of travel by developing their own online corporate travel management site," MacNair said. "Companies can benefit from great service, great technology and leadership by partnering with the right company to take on this second largest controllable cost." MacNair said "Most private online travel sites don't offer all the airlines and don't provide the level of support required by most companies. Many smaller agencies don't offer the right technology."

One finding from the Benchmark Report is the online agency fee savings and online airfare savings resulting from adoption of online corporate travel tools. "These survey results are consistent with MacNair's tracked savings for clients. Corporate clients are realizing savings of about $75 per online booking," MacNair stated.

Explaining how airfare savings occur, MacNair says that corporate travel management sites have access to more fares and airlines than public sites and more functionality geared toward business travel.

This year's Benchmark Report shows a continued adoption by corporate travel managers for online booking. In fact, more than four times the number of MacNair Travel customers has embraced this corporate travel management tool in 2005 compared to 2004. MacNair added he expects the number of users to quadruple again in 2006.

"A few tips I will provide during the session include that travel managers can customize the online display toward the company policy, that the travel system can police company policy and that pre-trip authorization can be automated," MacNair said.

According to MacNair, the workshop is intended for CFO's, travel managers, and other individuals responsible for travel in their organization who want to further enhance their understanding of today's travel management opportunities that will result in saving money for their company's travel budget.
